What I Have Learned:

  1. I have learned that the eyes of the subject matter significantly in the photo. If your subject is not looking directly at the camera, you must either show what they are staring at or capture the reflection in their eyes. Also, it is important that you do not hide the object. However, when taking candid shots this is the key of your photo. Thus, the stare the subject has can either make your portrait or ruin it.
  2. Over exposing is very common and can actually give a portrait a clean and simple look.
  3. Contrasting the colors of your subjects clothing and the colors of the background can significantly make your portrait amazing. If your subject is wearing bright colors, place your subject against a darkened background and vice versa when having a bright colored background and neutral clothing.
